It was removed as an Olympic event in 1912.
There are several events that have been discontinued from Olympic competition like rope climbing, the standing long jump, tug of war, and the dueling pistols, and therefore the Olympic records cannot be broken.  Wait a second, did I just say ‘dueling pistols’ was an Olympic sport?!  I would kill to get into that competition.  See what I did there?  Genius.
