Chlorophyll.
Green plants convert sunlight to energy via chlorophyll.  Fungi (like mushrooms) don’t have chlorophyll, so how do the get big and yummy?  From the soil, silly billy.  They have a network of thin, rootlike threads that suck up nutrients that help them get big and then put onto the tops of pizzas.  Also lightning has been found to multiply and increase harvests in mushrooms.  That’s right – I said LIGHTNING
