Kazuo Sakamaki, an occupant of one of the midget subs used in the Pearl harbor attacks, was the first Japanese P.O.W. of WWII captured by the U.S. forces.  He was found unconscious on the beach after an explosion in his sub during the Pearl Harbor assault.
