Elisha Otis didn’t even think to patent this revolutionary device at first – the silly billy just thought of using it to move stuff.  If he had invented it in today’s world, he would have already locked horns with Google and Apple over who stole who’s iElevator technology.  Spoiler alert: it was Samsung.
