The San Diego Chargers.

Barron Hilton, socialite and hotel magnate, helped create the team that would be known as the San Diego Chargers.  Hilton also was the head of the Carte Blanche credit card firm.  Urban legend has it that the team was named for the act of using a credit card to purchase something (charging), but in reality a ‘name-the-team’ contest was held and the winning entry was “Chargers”.  I guess that’s because “We’re-Never-Going-To-Win-The-Super-Bowl” isn’t very catchy.

(Buck up, I’m a Cubs fan so I feel a similar pain.)

If Spider-Man cheered for the San Diego Chargers, he might look like this. Or he might be rooting for Electro. Who knows.
