Sure, you could count the clock strikes to know what time it is, but not in 44 B.C., buckaroo.  That jam didn’t drop until about a thousand years later.  You could have totally counted the sullen sheep that wandered by your Roman shanty, but they have no sense of timing. 

I know I saw that sheep around here somewhere…
