Pizza Treat.

Husband and wife team Mike and Marian Ilitch opened the Little Caesar’s pizza chain in 1959.  Mike wanted to call it Pizza Treat, but Marian wanted something else – and thought of her husband as her “little Caesar”.  Which is worse: having your spouse undercut your naming of the restaurant or realizing that your spouse calls you “little” anything and then markets that to the public?

I don’t think that chicken, fish or shrimp were on those early Little Caesar’s pizzas, but it was the late 1950s so who knows. Maybe we should ask Don Draper.
