A homonym.

Words that are spelled the same and sound the same yet have different meanings are homonyms.  For example: to “skate” across ice and the fish called a “skate” are homonyms.  “Which” and “witch” or “pear” and “pair” are homophones (words with the same pronunciation but different spellings and meanings).

“A bicycle can’t stand on its own because it is two-tired” is a joke that will get you punched in an English class.
