Wanting to streamiline the city naming process, the United States Board on Geographic Names forced Pittsburgh to drop the ‘h’ and become Pittsburg.  The name change lasted 20 years, which means Pittsburgh has more recently had an “h” at the end of it than the Cubs have won the World Series.  Not that I’m bitter or anything.

Not a misspelling. At least, not in the picture…
