Only two.

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were the only two signers of the Declaration of Independence to later become “Mr. President”.  Those weren’t the only two to go on to greatness however: Samuel Adams, also a signer and supporter, went on to make finely crafted beers and John Hancock still makes finely crafted insurance policies.

Word.

Red, white, and black.

There’s a lot of mainly tri-color, horizontal striped flags when you start looking.  One of the most unusual flags is Nepal.  It’s the only national flag that’s not square or rectangular.  It’s two pennants stacked on top of each other, something the Chicago Cubs are entire unfamiliar with (Oh get off your high horse, I’m a Cubs fan too – but some jokes are too funny to pass up.).

Nepal’s national flag, or maybe Tatooine’s flag. There sure is a whole lot of sun on it.

Four.

The four U.S. states that begin with “I” are: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Idaho.  If you answered any of those in your head with a lower case “i” at the beginning, well, my iPhone autocorrects just about everything that way too.  Sorry iCeland.

Note: the big green state starts with a “T”, not an “I”.

10 points.

If you play your cards right, you’ll hit a triple word and/or letter score and get more.  Or you could play against my brother John and get pwned, which he will let you play – but you’re gonna eat that “Q”.  Figuratively, of course.

My favorite use of the letter “Q”.

Quiver.

Ah, but you knew that, didn’t you?  Of course you did.  Your one-eyed archery teacher taught you that on the second day.  On the first day, she taught you not to aim the arrow at her.  She learned that lesson last year, the hard way.

Not a cyclops, and I wouldn’t say that even within smoke signal shot not to mention ear shot.

Night Court.

Harry Anderson played Judge Harry Stone for nine seasons on NBC’s Night Court.  And that was a big deal.

I was wrong. THAT was a big deal. (Insert rimshot here.)

New Jersey.

It’s like everything bad happens in New Jersey – alien invasions, natural disasters, the television show ‘Jersey Shore’….

Was Orson Welles an alien? Check it out: he’s totally doing the “E.T. phone home” finger.

Happy Halloween-iversary to me!

If these people were any happier, they would start a cult.

I have loved Halloween ever since I could remember.  That holiday and the fall season have been my favorites since, well, ever.  Another reason my wedding day is (drumroll)…Halloween.

Several years ago, my wife thought I was ok enough to get hitched to me.  It turned out pretty good for her, but I did have a lot of things to work on.  We got married on a beach in Hawaii, friends and family were there.  The one thing I asked for was a Halloween wedding.  No festive celebrating on the day – no makeup or costumes, except for the bride and groom costumes.  (A white polyester on a fat guy on a Hawaiian beach is always gonna end up in tears – of sweat.)

She gave me that, and I optioned all of the anniversaries.  I can do whatever Halloween stuff I want on anniversaries.  Do you know how many Halloween-iversaries we have celebrated?  None.  Not a one.  Why?  Because I love Halloween, but I love my wife more.  I just like hanging out with her.  She’s the best.  Now you may go about your day, realizing that love just is.  I hope it finds you, and hits you in the face like a wet mackerel.
